An American girl from the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pa wandered into the Dutch countryside. It took some time for Kayleigh Leith to get used to the country life after living in Steel-town, but she adapted while remaining true to herself and wrote a record that combines her American roots and new surroundings in a very intriguing way. In line with Jewel and Lady Antebellum, Kayleigh delivers intimate pop songs and beautiful country arrangements combined with an engaging personality and a perfectly painted picture of emotion she creates in every song.
While studying music and theater in Las Vegas, Kayleigh learned the hard laws of show business; hard work, persistence and the humble attitude needed with all the ups and downs that occur in this business but through it all, Kayleigh made sure she never backed down! After spending several years in Las Vegas, Kayleigh returned to her Pennsylvania roots. It is during this time that she started writing her own songs. Kayleigh was forced to support herself by working and playing acoustically in a small idyllic coffee shop. This experience formed her as a musician but it also turned out to be a discovery about whom and what she wanted to be. When love took her to the Netherlands, Kayleigh had to find a day job to support herself once again, but spent every free minute she had on her songs.
With that same determination she saved up money for several years until she finally had enough to go and record her songs. Eventually Kayleigh spend a month in New York to record her first album in the renowned Cutting Room Studios. She was able to bring some great musicians like drummer Shawn Pelton and multi-instrumentalist Thad deBrock on board to help her record her debut album. In the spring of 2011 the final touches were put on the record and it was mixed in Nashville. The album was released worldwide on October 28th in cooperation with Suburban Distribution.
Since the release, the album has received great reviews from music critics all over Europe. She also hasn’t gone unnoticed in her homeland. In the U.S.A. the video of her first single ‘Stand up Straight’ was featured on famous sites like Todayscountrymusicvideos.com and Yallwire.com, where it was the number one video on the charts for several weeks. In June 2012 the Dutch Country Music Association announced that Kayleigh’s debut album “Miles Away” was nominated for the Album Of The Year Award.
This past spring Kayleigh completed her first mini-tour back home in the United States with several successful shows in her hometown of Pittsburgh, PA and she also made her debut at the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN. In July Kayleigh played her first headline show in Germany as well as a great USO show for the American Armed Forces in Grafenwoehr. Kayleigh is scheduled to release a new single in the summer of 2013 followed by her second album late summer.
